FILA - ORIGIN OF THE ITALIAN CULT LABEL
The vision of the four founding brothers in Biella (IT) in 1911 still lives on today. The combination of high-quality materials, classic and durable design and a free-thinking practicality form the basis of the brand. Founded in 1923, the manufacturer quickly became known throughout Italy with its products, which initially consisted mainly of underwear. The international breakthrough for FILA came in 1974 with the newly launched sportswear collection. The White Line Collection, which revolutionised tennis, was developed by designer Pier Luigi Rolando. It was somewhat provocative in its unconventional way, but still honest and authentic. The cosmopolitan charm of the brand has remained until today and is characteristic for the collections of the brand.
In its more than 100-year history of success, the label has always made it its task to create extraordinary fashion that can convince in the three points of design, flexibility and performance. FILA still combines Italian craftsmanship and sophistication and inspires young and old on the streets of the world's metropolises. A brand with cult status that is indispensable in sports, fashion and pop culture.
STREETWEAR TO THE POINT
FILA quickly recognised the characteristics on which sportswear should be based: it should support the athlete in his grace and movements, be flexible and yet fit perfectly. To this day, well-known athletes can identify with the brand, be it tennis legend Björn Borg or extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner. FILA thrives on its special relationships with sports and their extraordinary talents. As the main sponsor of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart and as the sponsor of tennis stars Alexei Popyrin, Marin Čilić and Karolína Plíšková, FILA currently has a very strong presence in tennis.
FILA will continue to focus on the production of excellent sportswear in the years to come. Although the fashion scene has also discovered the unique spirit of sports, FILA is more than just at home in streetwear. With the legendary Disruptor, FILA is also considered the pioneer of chunky sneakers in streetwear.
One of the first highlights in the fashion Olympus in 2017 was the illustrious cooperation with the Italian luxury label Fendi. In September 2018, FILA's spring and summer 2019 collection already strutted independently down the catwalks of Milan Fashion Week.
